When Tim Harrison arrived at the 2013 Calgary Flames development camp, fans weren't sure what to expect. After all, when he was drafted earlier that summer, there was almost no information available on the right winger.
At the end of the week, everyone knew who he was thanks to his incredibly tenacious style of play and his solid skill set.
Harrison plays an aggressive, up-tempo style that often leads to the opposition turning over the puck or taking a retaliation penalty in response to one of the forward's bone-crushing hits. He isn't afraid to play in the hard areas, crashing the crease and knocking around defenders along the boards. He fits the power forward mold perfectly.
He is also an agitator. In both scrimmages at development camp, he managed to get under the skin of several of his fellow Flames prospects. In one sequence, he threw a hard-but-clean hit on Sven Baertschi and the Swiss winger responded with a cross-check. The move earned Harrison a penalty shot, which he converted on and showcased his offensive prowess.
The Duxbury, MA native made an impression Flames scouts during his 2012-13 season at Dexter High School, notching 24 goals and 51 points in 28 games. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound forward will begin his collegiate career with Colgate University in the fall of 2013.
