When Laurent Brossoit was selected by the Flames in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Draft, he was relatively unknown by fans. He had spent the majority of his career playing behind Jon Groenheyde in Edmonton before he was drafted, failing to catch many people’s attention.
That all changed in 2011-12.
Brossoit became the Oil Kings starting netminder and led them all the way to the Memorial Cup tournament. He had a 42-13-5 regular season record with three shutouts to his name. In the playoffs, he went 16-4-0 and was named the WHL Championship series MVP for his efforts.
At 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds, Brossoit has the size all clubs want in their netminders along with a strong skill set. He has great reflexes and has been praised for his strong technique.
Brossoit will begin his professional career in the 2013-14 season with the Abbotsford Heat.
