CALGARY, AB -- The Abbotsford Heat closed out their six-game road swing with a 3-2 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday evening.

Flames prospect Joni Ortio made 31 saves in the victory and now is 17-4-2 on the year.

The Heat opened the scoring at 10:46 of the first period with Carter Bancks beating Griffins netminder short-handed. Grand Rapids' Nathan Paetsch replied under a minute later with a power play marker but that didn't dampen the Heat's spirit. Max Reinhart was able to give his team a 2-1 lead at the 14:55 mark of the opening frame.

Xavier Ouellet tied the game up for the Griffins in the second period but once again, the Heat had a response. Markus Granlund potted his 16th goal of the season at 7:53, which would end up being the game-winner.
