KARRI IN NET FOR THE FLAMES, KARI IN NET FOR THE STARS
On Wednesday morning, head coach Bob Hartley announced Karri Ramo would be in net in Dallas. The Finn has played two games on the Flames road swing, making 57 saves on 64 shots in those outings. He was in net for the Flames lone win on the trip, a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.
Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen will return to the lineup tonight after missing the last five games with a lower body injury.
The 21-year-old has one point on this road trip - an assist in San Jose.
"He's been okay," was Hartley's assessment of Baertschi's play on the road. "I think with the puck, he's pretty creative. But I think that he's a young player and we want more.
"Overall commitment - to learn the game in the three zones and to come up with great efforts every game. I always mention Gallagher to him from Montreal. It's a matter of choice."
Mark Giordano, who missed Tuesday's game with a lower body injury, remains day-to-day and will be a game-time decision tonight. If he is unable to play, Chris Breen will get into his second NHL game.
BACK AT IT
Stajan was relegated to the press box for longer than he would have liked with his lower body malady and is thrilled to be cleared to get back into games.
"I feel ready to go," he said. "I just want to get back out there and make sure I keep it simple early. It's never easy, not playing for three weeks. You've got to get your timing back. I'll rely on my linemates a lot tonight and get myself into it early."
Thankfully for Stajan, there won't be a need to familiarize himself with new linemates. He skated with Curtis Glencross and Lee Stempniak this morning, two players who have flanked him many times in the past.
"The old linemates will be reunited," Hartley smiled. "Stajan, Glenny and Stempy - I think those guys have pretty good chemistry together. I'm expecting a big game out of those three guys."
THE OTHER SIDE: ALBERTA BOY'S NHL DEBUT
Kevin Connauton, who hails from Edmonton, AB, will make his NHL debut tonight. The defenceman was the Stars third round pick in the 2009 NHL Draft.
"I'm extremely excited, a little bit nervous," he said after the Stars morning skate. "I kind of felt like this moment wasn't going to come here over the last couple of years so it's pretty surreal it's happening right now.
"It's pretty cool playing an Alberta team. Hopefully they'll televise it back home in Alberta so all my friends can watch."
Another Dallas roster note: The Stars will be without forward Ryan Garbutt as he was recently suspended for five games for a charge on Anaheim Ducks forward Dustin Penner.
"Mony has a knack to find those loose pucks. Some people might call this luck. I call this hockey sense." - Hartley on Sean Monahan's nose for the net
