Finland's 11-4 rout over Slovakia on Friday morning has earned them seventh place in the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Calgary Flames prospect Markus Granlund recorded three assists in the victory and is now tied for top spot in tournament scoring with his countryman Joel Armia. Both have amassed 12 points through six games. Granlund ended his tournament with five goals and seven assists.

Granlund was drafted in the second round (45th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft. The 19 year-old has suited up for Finland in two World Junior Championship tournaments.

Armia posted a hat trick and one assist against the Slovaks. Teuvo Teräväinen scored twice and added two helpers to his stat line, pushing him to third in tournament scoring with 11 points.

Forward Miikka Salomäki and defenceman Olli Määttä also had three-point games.

Finland's last medal at the World Junior Championship came in 2006 when they claimed bronze. The last time they placed seventh was in 2009.
