On Friday, USA Hockey announced their final roster decision had been made and Calgary Flames prospect Patrick Sieloff has made the cut.
The defenceman beat out Boston University's Matt Grzelcyk for the last available spot on the squad. The pair had been kept in Ufa, practicing with the team, until USA Hockey had come to a decision on what kind of blueliner they wanted to complete their defensive corps. Grzelcyk is a very mobile rearguard with offensive flair while Sieloff is a bruising, shutdown defenceman.
The Flames drafted Sieloff in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft. He is in the midst of his first season in the OHL, playing for the Windsor Spitfires.
