3RD PERIOD RECAP: 4-2 DUCKS

Penalties continued to be an issue for both sides in the final period. The Ducks handed the Flames a lengthy 5-on-3 and they didn't waste it. Giordano scored his eighth of the season with a bomb from the blueline. Iginla and Tanguay assisted on the tally.

The Flames continued to press as the period wore on but couldn't find the equalizer, dropping a proverbial four-point game. Corey Perry added an empty-netter for his 46th of the season.

2ND PERIOD RECAP: 3-1 DUCKS

The Flames opened the second stanza down a man for 18 seconds thanks to Matt Stajan's late tripping call. They were able to kill it off easily but put themselves down a man just 26 seconds later when Iginla drove to the net and knocked Ray Emery over.

Calgary was able to kill off their fifth penalty well, however, not allowing a shot on net.

Midway through the frame. Cory Sarich absolutely laid out winger Matt Beleskey along the boards in the Flames end. The forward was trying to bypass the blueliner but Sarich lined him up perfectly, sending him sprawling to ice and earning a roar of approval from the crowd.

After the Ducks killed off two penalties, it appeared the Flames were take advantage of a tired Ducks squad and whack in an errant puck in front of Emery. The apparent goal underwent a lengthy goal and it was concluded in the war room in Toronto that the puck could not be definitely seen crossing the line entirely.

Despite outshooting the Ducks 10-3 in the period, the Ducks added a late goal when Lubomir Visnovsky sent a blast from the point that deflected off of Sarich and past a screened Kiprusoff.

After 40:00, shots are 20-13 Flames. The Flames took one penalty to the Ducks three.

1ST PERIOD RECAP: 2-1 DUCKS


Just 2:58 into the first period,captain Jarome Iginla scored his 37th of the season when he wired a wrist shot through a maze of players and past Ray Emery. Alex Tanguay and Mark Giordano earned the helpers on the tally. Iginla is now just four points away from 1000 in his career.

The Flames ran into some penalty troubles shortly after their go-ahead goal. Ales Kotalik was nabbed for hooking in his own end. After that, Regehr was called for slashing. Calgary killed off the 47 second 5-on-3 power play but didn't escape unscathed.

Bobby Ryan scored on a wraparound attempt at 8:05 to tie the contest up at one.

Penalties hurt the Flames again when Corey Perry scored his 45th on the power play. Mikael Backlund was in the box slashing.

After 20 minutes of play, shots are tied at 10 apiece. The Flames took four minors in the period while the Ducks took two.
