GETTING SETTLED IN
Hi guys! This is Mark Jankowski. I'm going to be blogging for CalgaryFlames.com throughout the week, going over what's happening in development camp. Here's a quick recap of my first day in Calgary:
It was a pretty early morning, I had a really early flight. I got to the hotel around 10:00 AM, had some breakfast and relaxed. It's been a really good day so far. I met some of the guys from Providence - where I'm going in a few years - so that was great. We went through orientation tonight where we looked at our schedule for the rest of the week, got to know each other and the staff members.
I'm really looking forward to the learning aspect of development camp and seeing what I need to work on. All the testing this week will give me a good look at the areas I need to focus on when I'm training. It'll be great to push myself with all of the great players that are at camp. I'm also looking forward to seeing a bit of the city this week.
I'm probably least looking forward to the fitness testing tomorrow morning. It's a grind, no doubt, but it's something we have to do to know what our strengths and weaknesses are. It's really going to help me in the future but I know I'm in for a tough morning.
I'll keep it pretty brief tonight as I have to get ready for tomorrow's test. I'll try to check in after I finish off my fitness testing in the morning or after our afternoon skate!
