Team USA general manager David Poile joined Sportsnet's Hockey Central at Noon on Friday to talk about remarks made by Brian Burke regarding Ottawa Senators forward Bobby Ryan and the role the media played.

Poile defended Burke's comments stating that the entire story wasn't articulated and only bits and pieces were reported.

"When you take snapshots of the full story, you don't get the full story," Poile told Hockey Central at Noon. "Brian Burke drafted Bobby Ryan. When I asked the group to submit their Olympic rosters, Bobby Ryan was on his (Burke's) team. "

Poile also said that nothing that could be potentially damaging was to be reported.

"There's a lot of things said about a lot of players, both good and bad," Poile said. "Nothing was supposed to happen that could be damaging to USA Hockey or the players."

Being at the NHL Draft is definitely a unique experience. Every time you turn your head there is a recognizable face.

Standing in our hotel lobby yesterday, I glanced around to see the logos of various NHL teams stitched on golf shirts everywhere. A second peek at the owners of the golf attire and I was usually looking at a very familiar face.

Barry Trotz, Doug Weight, Bryan Berard, Dean Chenowth and Craig Conroy just within eyes view. Upon further investigation of the room I notice more but I can't place the names.

Walking through downtown Pittsburgh it becomes more apparent that the NHL has taken over at members of NHL clubs are littered throughout.

The Flames digital team took a break last night and attended the Pirates-Twins contest at PNC Park. The NHL presence at the ball park was also obvious with the sight of several prospects and team representatives. As the memorable moment where the 2012 NHL's number one overall pick nears, the excitement builds. And you can feel it. Those same familiar faces will all be in one place tonight as history is made.

If you are a hockey fan or a fan of the NHL, this is the place to be. The biggest off-ice event of the summer brings out the anticipation and optimism of every NHL fan and I'm soaking in every minute of it.
